Happy Give Big CHQ 2025!!

Give Big CHQ is a day of Giving organized by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Through Give Big CHQ, we have the chance to win additional prizes that will help us to meet our fundraising goals.

Give between 7:16 am and 7:16 pm – all donations of $15 or more will be matched up to $3,500!

The more UNIQUE donors we have- the greater our chances to win $$ to support the trail…. So ask your friends, family members, significant others, co-workers, neighbors, and literally anyone you know to make even a small donation to help us meet our goal!

Our goals:
-Raise $9,000
-Receive donations from 125 unique donors!
-Have fun while we’re doing it. 🙂

This year, our goal is to raise $9,000 to help repair the trail surface on a section that runs through Brocton, from School Street to Webster road. This section of trail has been significantly damaged by the unauthorized use of motorized vehicles (such as side-by-sides and ATVs). It will cost $45,000 to fix and resurface this section of trail. Upon completion of the project, the community of Brocton will have an accessible trail totaling 1.2 miles in length.

So far, we have raised $27,100 – 60% – of the funds needed to complete this project. Successfully raising $9,000 on June 13th will get us to the 80% mark!

Thanks to our generous supporters, we have $3,500 in matching funds already secured!

As a nonprofit and volunteer organization, our funding comes from the generosity, passion, and support of donors. We thank you for your consideration in donating for this needed work.

The section of trail highlighted blue, and the green line north of Webster road is the area that will be improved.

These photos show the damage to the trail.

Our vision for the repaired surface:

We are asking for your help on June 12th! Please GIVE BIG to support a maintained, passable trail system that runs from Sherman to Brocton, and from Riverside Road to W Main street (Rt. 62) in Frewsburg.

THANK YOU for your support!

Chautauqua Rails to Trails maintains 28.1 total miles of multi-use trails in Chautauqua County. We are an all-volunteer organization which works to maintain and expand trails along old railroad corridors in the county.

Chautauqua Rails to Trails has been busy in the last 6 years! We have been fixing up rough sections of trail, putting up new signs and kiosks, and experimenting with new surface materials. We opened a new 2-mile segment of trail in the Town of Carroll, and we are currently working to open up a segment that runs parallel to Ellicott Road in the Town of Portland. In the future, we hope to expand the trail from Sherman to Corry, PA to connect to the larger Erie to Pittsburgh Rail Trail!
