CR2T Reminder: No Motorized Vehicles on Trails

Chautauqua Rails to Trails (CR2T) reminds the public that motorized vehicles—including ATVs and motorcycles—are strictly prohibited on our non-motorized recreational trail network.

Reports identifying individuals involved in other recent illegal ATV activity have been submitted, and CR2T is working closely with local law enforcement and town supervisors to address these violations.

Exceptions include:
Snowmobiles in the winter months
Vehicles used by CR2T members for trail maintenance
Limited access by adjacent landowners for farming or land management

Unauthorized recreational use or joyriding is not permitted under any circumstances.

As a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, CR2T receives no regular funding from state, county, or municipal sources. We rely on community support through membership dues, donations, fundraisers, and occasional regional grants to keep trails safe, scenic, and accessible.

“We’re proud to offer safe, scenic trails for residents and visitors alike,” said CR2T President Bill Ward. “But we can’t do it without your help. Whether it’s volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, your support helps us keep these trails open year-round.”

📸 If you observe ATVs on the trail, please report it to CR2T—photos and names (when safely obtainable) are especially helpful in addressing illegal activity.
